BATAVIA – The final day of racing at Batavia Down for 2022 came to an early end after heavy snow caused track conditions to quickly deteriorate.
The 13-race card was canceled after the fifth race.
Batavia Downs officials said the decision was made “for the safety of everyone involved.” The remainder of the races scheduled for Dec. 17.
The Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta carryover of $10,733 that was required to be paid out in race 13 – the last of the year – will be moved to opening night of the 2023 race season, scheduled for Jan 9, 2023. The jackpot will be offered as a “must pay” in the last race of the card on Jan. 9.
A lake effect snow warning that includes Genesee County remains in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday.
