Batavia Township names Interim Township Administrator

An Interim Batavia Township Administrator has been named after the former township administrator announced that he had accepted an offer from Sycamore Township to be their Planning and Zoning Administrator.

The Batavia Township Board of Trustees has named Karen Swartz as the Interim Batavia Township Administrator for the next six months; the Board will review things from there.

Swartz is filling the position after former Batavia Township Administrator Jeff Uckotter left on Jan. 4.

Previous to accepting the role, Swartz worked as the Batavia Township Administrative Assistant.

Before his departure, Uckotter said of Swartz that she is “well-informed” of all the projects going on in the township.

“So, in that regard, there should be a seamless transition,” he noted. “The Township is in great hands.”

Swartz has served in Clermont County government since 2002, according to her online biography. She worked for nine years in the Clermont County Commissioners’ Office as an Administrative Support Supervisor and worked at the County Building Inspecting Department for the past ten years serving as their Executive Assistant.

Swartz joined Batavia Township in January 2022 as the Administrative Assistant.
