Bitter Cold, Below-Zero Temps: Where To Find Batavia Warming Centers

BATAVIA, IL — Temperatures are expected to be “bitterly cold” this week in Batavia, and after last week’s snowstorms, no precipitation is expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The week is off to a cold start, with a high of only 5 degrees expected Monday night. Tuesday could be similar, with a high of 19 degrees during the day and 7 degrees at night forecast, Patch reported.

Temperatures will warm slightly on Wednesday and Thursday, which have respective highs of 29 and 35 degrees, but a “reinforcing shot of cold air” will move into the area on Thursday night, resulting in a high of 17 degrees Friday, according to the weather service.

With the incoming cold front, it’s important to know where to go should your power go out or you find yourself without heat. Warming centers are available throughout Kane County.

Here are a few centers in and around Batavia. A full list can be found here, and be sure to call ahead before you go.
