H.S. WRESTLING: Batavia fares well at Avoca tourney; Monday’s results included | Sports


AVOCA — The Batavia/Attica wrestling team fared well at this past weekend’s Walt Peterson Memorial Tournament, finishing with five finalists and two champions. Wyatt Bryman won the 132-pound title with a 9-0 decision over South Seneca’s Tyler Piccolo in the final, while Casper Stewart took down Bolivar-Richburg’s Tavyn MacDonnel by 9-4 decision at 160 lbs.

Batavia/Attica added three runner-up finishers with Nate Heusinger (145 lbs.), Devan Flanagan (152 lbs.) and Wyatt Kaufman (285 lbs.) Rounding out B/A’s top six finishers were Preston Bannister(third-102 lbs.), Michael Minter (fifth-110 lbs.), Luke Gutman (third-126 lbs.), Andrew Childs (fourt- 145 lbs.) and Tymothey Murrell (fifth-189 lbs.). Austin Post of Pembroke finished fourth at 102 lbs.
